Defcon Fellowship

This event exists for the sole purpose for the Glory of God, and the fellowship of Christian hackers.  The plan is simple: At Defcon 19, we break bread together in remembrance of Him.

This event serves as an opportunity to meet fellow Christian hackers at the end of a conference many of us attend.

The Son is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him. He is before all things, and in him all things hold together. And he is the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead, so that in everything he might have the supremacy. For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him, and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross. – Colossians 1:15-20

Because we are called to.

Day by day continuing with one mind in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they were taking their meals together with gladness and sincerity of heart, praising God and having favor with all the people And the Lord was adding to their number day by day those who were being saved. – Acts 2:45-47

Because we are the church, wherever we go.

You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot. You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. – Matthew 5:12-14

Because we each need the encouragement.

As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another. – Proverbs 27:17

In order to ensure that we don’t get lost.

Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will. – Romans 12:2

Who is Invited?

We believe there is a God (tri-une), who has chosen to reveal Himself to us through the Bible.  We believe that He alone is the author of everything, including salvation.  Who, despite our rebellious nature (sin) has graciously came to live, serve, and die to redeem us back to Him.  We believe there is a heaven, and there is a hell– and that it’s solely through the work of Jesus Christ on the cross that we are saved.

The work written here explains in greater detail what that all means.

We are going to kick this idea off at Defcon 19, in Vegas, on Sunday 8/7/2011, over brunch.

We will figure out the rest as we get closer.

Although Christ has paid the ultimate price– you still need to pay for your own food. 🙂

Might make shirts, we can discuss as things come along.
